Week 5: October 10th - 13th

Economics Orange: (Wednesday & Thursday)

Homework:


  • Moneyskill Income Assignment 2 & 3 must be completed by Friday. Note: We do not have class Friday, but all Money skill will be checked that morning.
  • Demand Elasticity assignment will be due Thursday. Click on the following link to connect you to the assignment http://ecoassignments.blogspot.com/. The assignment will be part of the class discussion on Thursday. Students will have to have their hoemwork turned in.
  • Utilizing the Wall Street Journal, and your blog, find a current events article that includes the principles of demand elasticity. Blog a summary (judgement of important information) about the choosen article.
  • Thursday: Students will be administerd a Demand Quiz from Chapter 4. The quiz will be a 20 minute timed quiz.

Wednesday: Students will be given time to collaborate on the Demand Elasticity assignment due Thursday. Also, students will be presented with a short lecture on the principles of supply.

Thursday: Students will be administered the Chapter 4 quiz. Students will also review their findings of the Demand Elasticity assignment. We will do a quick dicsussion of current events.

Week 3: September 18th - 22nd.


This week we will begin preparing for a unit test on the first units information, the basics of economics. The class should look to the wiki to prepare for the exam. On the wiki, there will be a list of important terms and concepts. Students should collaborate on line to develop an online test-prep resource. www. iroquois.pbwiki.com. The unit exam will be given to each class on the first class day of next week.

  • Moneyskill Assignment 2 is due Friday. we will discuss the topics and the concepts of the assignment.
  • Blog Assignment: Students will complete, by Friday, the blog on the ecoaroune.blogspot.com page entitled "The Puzzling Economics of the World of Sports"

On Tuesday, we will view a film in class reinforcing the principels of scarcity and the fundamentals of economics. Students will be asked to take notes, and we will have a class scribe. The purpose of watching this film, is to draw a correlation between the events illustrated on the film, to similar events that are occurring today. Tuesday's class will conclude with a brief discussion of three important principles of production, competition, outsourcing, and product decision. Students will then be assigned a short blog, capturing all three of those issues, and their relationship to the current troubles the Ford Motor Company is experiencing. Wednesday, We will be concluding the lecture on issues of production and personal choice. Friday we will be discussing student findings regarding the economics of sports and the money skill assignment.

Economics Homework Hotline


Week 2: Monday, September 11th - Friday 15th, 2006

Our economics class is going to discuss the foundation of economics. Students will be responsible for completing the following assignment. Assignment 1 will be completed by Friday, regardless of whether or not you have class. Assignment 1 can be found at ecoaroune.blogspot.com. Also, students received Assignment 2 on Marginal Costs and Benefits. This assignment is a opportunity cost analysis of the benefits of college. Students are to write a blog on the costs and benefits of a college education. Utilize the google search engine to assist in finding the appropriate information necessary to properly address this analysis. Students will complete by Friday, regardless of whether they have class or not, the first benchmark exam on the moneyskill website (http://www.moneyskill.org/new06/). Students can login to moneyskill using their First letter of their first name, and the entire last name. The password is iroquois.
